Formulas used
| Step | Formula / rule | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Spindle speed | RPM = SFM × 3.82 ÷ D | Hannibal Carbide, Harvey Performance |
| Feed | IPM = RPM × teeth × IPT | Hannibal Carbide, Harvey Performance |
| Teeth engaged | teeth × arc ÷ 360, arc = 2·acos(1 − 2·DOC/D) | Geometry. Target ≥ 2 (Gaylee), 2-3 typical, 4 max (Practical Machinist, forum opinion) |
| Thin saw | Thickness < 1% of D: IPT × 0.5, DOC ≤ 3 × thickness | Harvey non-ferrous saw chart |
| Deep cut | Baseline DOC 5 × thickness. 8×: SFM −10%. 10×: SFM −20% | Harvey saw chart, Harvey non-ferrous chart |
| Coating | IPT up to +15% if coated | Harvey saw chart |
| Power | HP = thickness × DOC × IPM × unit power ÷ 0.80 | 4calculators |
Material SFM and IPT: Genswiss groups 1-9 and Harvey's non-ferrous saw chart. HSS and cobalt saws are not supported yet because the only data we found is secondhand and contradictory. Setup tolerances: RobbJack (arbor runout ≤ 0.0002", side runout < 0.0005").
